FISCAL SPONSORSHIPS


HISTORY
Established in July 1995, the Senior Sports Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) New Mexico corporation whose mission is to:

• promote health and fitness by supporting recreational and athletic experiences for adults 50 years of age and better.
• emphasize the importance of regular physical activitiey, including fun and camaraderie.
• identify and focu attention on the needs of seniors participating in sports, including acting as a liaison with various governing bodies.
• become a channel of information, and serve as a guide to assist seniors to attain healthy lifestyles through education, fitness, and sports.
• coordinate and/or conduct clinics in the areas of health, exercise, sports nutrition, and various specifi sports techniques.

ORGANIZATION
A Board of Directors governs the actions of the Foundation.  Please meet our board members.  They enjoy talking with sports enthusiasts, either at events of by email, so please say "Hello."

GRANTS
The Foundation awards grants to help organizations aligned with its mission.  If you would like to be considered for a grant, please contact us or download the Grant Application and Grant Policies, Criteria and Evaluation Procedures available under Grants.  You can also review the list of award recipient for previous years.

HONORED ATHLETES
The Foundation recognizes exceptional achievements of New Mexico senior athletes in a trophy case placed in the entry foyer at Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, 501 Elizabeth, SE, Albuquerque, NM.  Suggetions and nominations for displays should be submitted to the Foundation.

Additionally, the Foundation is in the process of establishing yearly Lifetime Time Achievement Awards honoring a male and female for a lifetime of distinguished participation in senior sporting activities.  Nomination forms and criteria are being developed and will be posted in the near future.

FISCAL SPONSORSHIPS
The Founation contracts with sports organizations who wish to utilize the services and sponsorship of the Foundation to further goals and objectives which are identical or substantially similar to those of the Foundation.  Under this affiliation, organizations can use the Foundation's 501(c)(3) status to apply for grants and solicit tax deductible donations.  Organizations currently holding fiscal sponsorships are the Canyon Nets and Silver Gloves.
